Phoenix Rugby 2024 Season

Changes for the New Season

We have officially partnered with Alpharetta Park & Recreation and with Atlanta Youth Rugby (AYR).

REGISTRATION IS A TWO-PART PROCESS – we have to register with USA Rugby and pay them their fee – this is separate from registering with the club and paying your annual dues with us.  All players everywhere are required to register for USA Rugby.   So, we will break this note down into the two registration parts.

Step One:  Register with USA Rugby:

·        Go to:

·        Returning players:  enter user name + password

·        Use “find a club” and type in: Atlanta Youth Rugby

·        Follow prompts and register – fee will be $35

·        New players:  create a username + password and create a new profile – then follow steps above to register

*Note this is a separate registration and required for all players everywhere to register with USA Rugby.

Step Two:  Register with our Club:

·        Go to:

·        Click the “Play Rugby” button at the bottom of that page

·        Select “A New Player” and continue by filling in all required fields

·        Under “Club & Division” select “I am registering with Alpharetta Phoenix,” and then please follow prompts below in the special area just for Alpharetta Phoenix.  There is a resident & non-resident fee and this has to be determined by your address.  The non-resident fee is higher and the difference in these fees goes to Park & Recreation – it is a requirement of our partnership with the city. Please follow links and prompts in this section to determine City of Alpharetta resident/ non-resident status.

·        Resident annual fee is $260 – Non-resident annual fee is $455

·        Follow prompts and check waivers from there and check out and pay at the end – simple stuff.

*Note financial assistance is available upon request but please contact prior to completing registration.

Phoenix Alpharetta Rugby & Georgia Youth Rugby Association is pleased to announce that Erik Saxon has been elected President effective immediately.

Phoenix Alpharetta Rugby & Georgia Youth Rugby Association is pleased to announce that Erik Saxon has been elected President effective immediately. In his new role, Erik will have full responsibility for all Phoenix Rugby and Georgia Youth Rugby Association activities going forward. Current President, Niall Fenton, will be retiring but will continue to serve and assist on the board of both entities.

Erik joins the Phoenix & GYRA team after a stellar career leading Charlotte Tigers and Charlotte Junior Rugby Association. During his term Charlotte Tigers became a high school national championship finalist while CJRA developed into one of the leading underage rugby programs in the country. In addition, Erik’s leadership of the Carolina Ruggerfest tournament saw the event grow into the largest such rugby event in the country. Erik and his family have relocated to the Atlanta area.

Erik Saxon said:

Phoenix Alpharetta has always been a club I’ve admired and respected.  It’s current leadership and support is stellar.  I feel lucky to have been given this new role and look forward to seeing what the future brings

Niall Fenton said:

“Phoenix Rugby is honored that Erik has agreed to join the club. I’m confident that he will facilitate the same growth in Atlanta that has been evident under him in Charlotte. This is a great day for Phoenix Rugby and I look forward to working with Erik throughout the transition”

Alpharetta Phoenix Rugby

Georgia's Leading Youth Rugby Club

Founded in 2006, Alpharetta Phoenix Rugby is Georgia's premier youth rugby club for U14 (Middle School), U16 (JV) and U19 (Varsity) age groups.

Our Goals for 2022-2023

As always, our primary goal is to produce young men of integrity, character and perseverance through the game of rugby. However, we are also a competitive team, and have high expectations for our players both on and off the field and have set the following goals for the coming year:

1. To continue to be Georgia's premiership championship youth team;

2. Grow our membership base (but primarily in the Middle School category) since this is the lifeblood of our team!

3. To stay healthy and safe during these turbulent times.

Everyone Is Welcome!

Phoenix welcomes everyone - no experience or knowledge of rugby is necessary! - since we believe that the game has something for everyone, and that anyone can play the game. All that is needed is a desire to improve, a spirit of teamwork, and a positive attitude.

The Registration "Alpharetta Phoenix Rugby, Georgia's Leading Youth Rugby Union Club" is not currently available.

Phoenix Rugby Values

Honesty, fair play, and a commitment to doing what is right.

A passion for life, for the game, and for our community.

Life, like rugby, is a team effort - and better done together than alone.

Playing well requires disciplined commitment to both the laws, values and spirit of the game.

For teammates, officials, coaches, the opposition, and the laws and spirit of the game.

Our Sponsors:

Phoenix Rugby is fortunate to have very generous sponsors who make it possible for us to do everything we do as a Club. They have all been exceedingly generous over the years, and we are deeply thankful to them.

Phoenix Rugby always welcomes the opportunity to bring new sponsors into the rugby family. In fact, sponsors are a kind of 'royalty' around the Club since without them, it would be very difficult for us to operate.

Phoenix Rugby operates under the Georgia Youth Rugby Association Inc, a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization.  As a result, sponsorship funds are considered tax deductible contributions.

For additional information on sponsoring, please contact us at or to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
